I now work here at Twelve Oaks Recovery Center, but was a patient here many years ago. I would recommend this facility to anyone struggling with the disease of addiction, not because I work here and not because I was a patient here, but because of the loving nurturing and caring staff that work here. Working in a facility such as Twelve Oaks IS NOT a vocation, it is a calling! This is not a field that makes the average employee monetarily rich; however it enriches our lives both spiritually and emotionally. The staff at this facility continues to hold their patients accountable for their recovery and continues to instill the basics of recovery in every individual that comes through this program. Thus effectively preparing them to reenter the world as responsible productive members of society with the tools they need to maintain themselves in their new lives. Today I have 19 years 11 months and 3 days of continuous sobriety ( including all narcotics ) I can honestly say that if it weren't for Twelve Oaks that wouldn't be possible!
Twelve Oaks began my journey of discovery and recovery 10 years ago and for that I am forever grateful!
It was the most comforted, safe, cared for, and finally hopeful, that I had been since my addiction began. 16 years later I am still clean and grateful! Thank you Twelve Oaks.
I felt my stay at Twelve Oaks was rewarding in moving me towards recovery from addiction to prescribed opioids. The individual sessions from my counselor were a strong impetus to this recovery process. She was very professional, straight-forward and unforgiving when it came to excuses. The medical staff demonstrated compassion and from what I saw and experienced, acted in an appropriate manner to meet the medical needs of the patients. I was equally impressed with the kitchen and dietary staff. I am sure many reviews are unfavorable regarding the food, but the staff insured there were alternative meals to the posted menu. The dietician also would take the time to meet with any individual needing special dietary requirements. By and large the tech staff were encouraging and supportive. There were however instances of inconsistent application of procedures; I am assuming this was due to a breakdown in communication to the staff, because of their understanding (or misunderstanding in some cases) of the procedures and their application. There is a large discrepancy in the professionalism of some of the counselors. I attended only one each of the group sessions led by two of the counselors. In one counselor’s session, I at first thought she was a patient. Upon walking into the room, she was seated barefoot, slouched down, with her feet up on the furniture. Her session was rampant with foul language and she took a confrontational approach in the discussions. In the second counselor’s session, she seemed to pride herself on the volume of profanity she could compact into each sentence. She seemed to encourage discussion with ‘smack talk’ to the patients. I personally made it a point not to attend either counselors’ future sessions and heard similar comments from other patients. This was unfortunate because the subject matter was very relevant but the message was lost in the delivery. Another thing that was very distracting; a young female patient. During her stay, it was obvious she was not serious about her recovery by her comments, disrespect and inappropriate behavior. She was discharged after completing her scheduled stay and three days later readmitted to begin her rehab process anew due to relapse. While I do not condone refusing treatment to anyone, readmitting her to the same facility with a familiar environment seemed to reinforce her previous behavior. She was also celebrated by other younger patients as a rebel and unfortunately a negative influence to be followed. The majority of the population, during my stay, was under 30 and most had been in rehab multiple times. And most of these were obviously not serious about being there or about their recovery.
Twelve oaks helped me figure out who I am as a person without my DOC, it really opened my eyes and helped me find my will to live again. I had an amazing counselor and the staff was incredible. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to actually put in the effort to get clean and lead a better life. I would strongly recommend Dixie as a counselor to anyone suffering from a dual diagnosis (Bipolar disorder, PTSD, etc.).
I was an Oakie twice this year and was welcomed back with such loving, open arms from all the techs and staff that remembered me from before!! As long as you are there for the right reasons and truly want to live a sober life, it will work for you!! Leaving with a "plan" is a must!! The second time around, I was hoping to learn something new and put my focus in a different direction, which consisted of finding mindfulness, inner peace and self reflecting!! That way worked for me!! I left feeling calm and confident about my recovery!! Thank you staff and alumni for an amazing experience!! Twelve Oaks Rocks ♡♡
I owe twelve oaks my life if it wasn’t for them I would probably be dead right now. The nurses, thetechs, the counselors are super helpful they generally care about your well-being and your safety and your recovery. You can talk to them about anything you can ask them for help and they were there for me 100 percent of the way. I would recommend this place to anyone. The people that you’re with our super helpful they understand where your coming from. The beds food and housekeeping are phenomenal as well. THANK YOU TWELVE OAKS STAFF
Twelve Oaks was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was such a sad broken girl when I arrived and that changed quickly within a few days. The programs are wonderful, the facility is clean, the food is great, the staff is friendly! You will meet some great people along the way... A few have turned into life long friends of mine. By the end of my 30 days I was so sad to leave. I had my confidence back and felt like the old me again finally. I highly recommend Twelve Oaks to any addict who is struggling.
If you are serious about recovery, this is the place to go. The staff are capable and caring experienced professionals. The days have a full schedule, but still provide some free time. The classes and sessions give you information and skills to help maintain your sobriety one day at a time. Not a fancy spa, but everything you need to get free of your addiction when you are ready to do the work it takes.
Twelve Oaks gave me the tools I needed to change and taught me how to live my best life in a very safe environment. I am forever grateful for the invaluable knowledge I gained, lifelong friends I made and the resources and tools I was afforded - which saved my life. The staff was very friendly and understanding to the struggles addicts and alcoholics go through, as a lot of them are in recovery themselves. I would recommend Twelve Oaks to anyone who is battling addiction/alcoholism and genuinely has the desire to change their life. Twelve Oaks (everyone there - the techs, counselors and nurses) helped steer me in the right direction and believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. P. S. I have read some of the other reviews and would like to note that coupling in treatment is highly frowned upon and is grounds for dismissal from treatment. If you (or you loved one) are genuine about wanting to change your life for the better, and open to learning tools to help you, the opportunities for a new life are endless. I can't express how much I truly believe treatment at 12 Oaks saved my life!
I was self admitted from an outside detox facility which I self referred to as well. I have been struggling with drinking and cocaine use for quite a few years and I learned so much from my month here and will be forever grateful for the knowledge and self insight gained from this facility. The staff are outstanding and I have nothing but love for them. The instructors and counselors are almost all coming at you with wisdom from their own struggles with addiction. I went to this place because they have a PTSD program geared towards Veterans and that group alone was worth the month long stay. If you are not serious about your recovery pplease do not go into that place distracting others who may be on the fence regarding their own recovery, it's not fair. I wish I would have committed to going to treatment years ago. Nothing but praises from me. Staff: 9/10 Food: 9/10 Schedule: 7/10 Cleanliness: 9/10 Counselors: 10/10 Lectures: 10/10 The reason for the 7 on schedule was because they changed the daily regimine schedule after my second week and even the staff was a bit confused but it didn't really effect the program as a whole, was just some confusion. Highly recommend thus place to those who are serious and sick of living in addiction. Anyone who is mature and open minded and willing to not fall into the "clique" mentality and just do their own program here I garuntee will be successful in their recovery. You will learn absolutely everything you need to be successful here. If you constantly missed or were late for lectures because you had to get more ciggerettes or candy at oak mart store or were always late to group because you were busy smoking or just chose not to participate... that is on you.
This place saved my life... great staff and Superior counseling, the best available... spiritual group also gave me the tools for a closer relationship with God and how to live
When I walked into the detox ward at Twelve Oaks I was at the end of my rope barely hanging on to one last little thread for dear life and I wasn't sure that I even wanted to live any longer after I had destroyed everything in my life with a 16 year run on opiates and heroin. The angles in this place helped me dig myself out of the pit of self loathing and despair that I had sunk into and find a new lust for life that i didnt even know existed if you are ready to live again then come here but know this its no country club these nurses and counselors and techs and staff will call you out on your bullshit quick they have been doing this a lo h time so if you have taken a long hard look in the mirror and can admit that you are powerless over drugs and alcohol and that your life is in chaos and you want sobriety the journey to a serene and peaceful life starts here but you have to want it and you have to work for it Dec 6th 2017 I will have one year of clean time from opiates and heroin and I still have tough days getting clean is hard staying clean is harder but it is possible I'll never forget what the staff at this place did for me THEY HELPED ME FIND MY WAY BACK FROM THE ABYSS OF ADDICTION AND START LIVING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing recovery for me. Staff was great and caring and loving. Thank you 12 Oaks for all you have seen into my new way of loving.
This place saved my life.the staff was awesome. If you want it it's there. My counselor was amazing.Mrs.Lawaan you showed me the way to let go and let God you are the greatest and once again I thank you.
I have been to twelve oaks three times. The first time I bailed , went AMA (against medical advice) , the second time was alright, still didn't make it though. The third time I tried my best to stick out. Yes, there are a lot of things that frustrated me and other people but if you just don't throw an attitude and you are patient, because they do have a lot going on, things will go smoothly. If you have real bad anxiety like I do, it is hard, not going to lie. Most of the staff there are very nice and really try to work with you. I think the biggest problem is its the same thing every day and (well for me) it's hard to focus with all the negative people there. The staff there do try to keep a good attitude and work with everyone's specific needs. Some things I disagree with but I know that they are just trying to help and keep everyone comfortable and happy. But it is hard, you have to really be determined to not drink or do drugs anymore or you are just wasting their time when they could be helping the ones that are very serious about their recovery. Now me personally, I don't see it as a disease, I made bad choices and got addicted. But not everyone sees it that way. It is a good place and they try their best to make everyone happy and taken care of. Just really have to be ready to change your life around if you want to go. They don't like wasting their time on people that just complain about eberything because they aren't getting all the attention they want. There will always be people that just complain the whole time. Just have to focus on the positive things. I would refer someone to go there. Just have to stick to it, be serious and ready to change your life for the better. They treat you the way you treat them.
Absolutely amazing. My son was there for 28 days and has returned a totally different person. He is HAPPY and eager to prove himself. He learned so much while there and really thrived in their structured environment. Everyone I came in contact with was fantastic (Cortney in admissions, Lynn in billing, Christian his counselor...). I had no problem contacting or getting information from anyone. (He had given them permission to talk to me). The only complaint I ever heard from him was when there were new clients coming in that really didn't want help. He started out with a group that was very serious about changing which really set the tone for his whole stay. He is more open with me now than he has ever been, even before the addiction issues. The results of his stay are way more than I ever expected. I am eternally grateful to everyone at Twelve Oaks!
It was absolutely amazing! I went in with health issues and scared to death. They were able to help me in so many ways
I went to twelve oaks twice. Once when I was 16 or 17, and the second time in January 2015. Both times, it was a pretty great experience for many different reasons... Hindsight has a lot to do with this. I am still sober today thanks to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous... And thanks to Twelve Oaks for steering me in the right path. I woke up one morning after drinking moonshine and decided I needed to go back to Twelve Oaks. My life has not been the same since. The staff are pretty nice. There were a few I didn't much care for, but they're under high stress and probably aren't making as much money as they should. You will find a safe, beautiful beach rehab where you can dry out to begin your journey in recovery. It's all in your mindset whether or not you will succeed... But twelve oaks can definitely help get you started.
